Get Organized?

Usually I'm not interested in posting things I find on the internet on my blog, but this one popped out at me. Perhaps I'm feeling particularly disorganized lately. Regardless, I'm not actually doing this challenge, just posting it.

It's an organization challenge that functions on the same premise as successful diet programs; life habits don't change overnight. It breaks down each part of your home into tiny pieces and you're supposed to follow it bit by bit. I like that idea because I know that my spaces tend to return to their state of nature without proper planning.

*PS I've just noticed that when I don't have a creative name for a post I just put a question mark at the end to indicate that I'm questioning my choice of title. I almost always come up with something else, but many of my "draft" posts have a question-marked title.

Seeing the Forest through the Tree Skirt

After two days of quilting this is what I've got. I haven't bound it yet--probably a project that I'll save for tomorrow.

Hope you can get the general gist of the pattern...

Let it snow!

Monday Monday

Monday morning wasn't looking good concerning my productivity. I was tempted to snuggle on the couch and watch Hoarders all afternoon.

Me kicking back before spending 45 minutes on Pinterest. Yeah, my students got me those sweet socks. By the end of the day my giant feet punched a hole through the toe.

Fortunately lunchtime kicked me into gear as I realized that kitchen needed cleaning. Note the cat print mysteriously on the INSIDE of the Crockpot lid. I washed it, obviously.

After that I ran some much-needed errands. The post office took 30 minutes, despite their obvious efficiency. I think that post office just serves too large of a population. They took mercy on my clueless self and helped me figure out what I needed to get my present shipped.

When I got home I started working on the tree skirt. I bought the fabric, so I HAVE to make it.

It all started with some math to figure out the size of each triangle. Yeah, I used sine (15 degrees) successfully, what of it? Thanks 12th grade Trig/Stat/Func.

Then I made a pattern for the triangles out of wrapping paper. We were out of the more often used tissue paper... WHATEVER. TIS THE SEASON.

Then I cut out twelve perfectly even triangles and sewed them together, face to face.

After another hour and half of pinning, smoothing, and unpinning, I had the batting between the layers. Tomorrow I'll hopefully be quilting and binding!

Get excited!

It's Christmas break! That means great things for all of you blog viewers. With my "free" time this week I'll have much more time to do stuff. Hopefully that equals a lot more posts for you blog viewers. Right now I have these lovely pictures of my niece's baptism yesterday!

Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time!

We got our tree tonight. I've never had a real tree before so I was full of important questions.

Why is the tree so skinny?
Why do we have to trim the tree? It looks fine.
Why do we have to bail the tree?
Do we want regular or LED lights?
Why is it leaving needles all over?
Why does it smell so good?
How do I put lights on the tree?
Is this the saw you want?
Should the screws be going into the base of the tree?
Will we have to find a bucket to put under the tree to keep it wet?
What kind of bucket should we use?
Will the kitties climb the tree?

Jeremy's answers to my questions in no particular order.

Because it's a real tree.
Really? Is that a serious question.
Please stop asking questions.
I don't care how you do it, as long as I don't have to.

Finished product. Heh. We have, like, nine ornaments right now. We figure we'll collect more than we'll ever need through the years.

And yes, after one hour, we've already had to kick Pebble out of the tree. Also, she stole a sausage out of the pan on the stove tonight. She's getting a little feisty.
